Things to do
In terms of things to do, you would be hard pushed to find a better location! The nearest large town is Hastings, which is fast becoming one of the most up and coming places to be with its historic old town and creative artistic scene which exists alongside its fishing industry which is one of the oldest in the country. There is of course another reason why so many people have been visiting Hastings since 1066 - the Battle of Hastings (which actually didn't take place in Hastings, but in the town of Battle). Here you can view the Abbey and Battlefield and learn all about the Norman Invasion.

Visit the picturesque small town of Battle and visit the site of the Battle of Hastings. Learn about how the Norman's planned their attack and how the area became 1066 country!
Visit the 2017 "Pier of the Year" and enjoy some fish and chips and a cold drink while looking across the English Channel. After why not hire a Kayak or Paddleboard and explore the pier legs (which took some drilling in as the workman in the 1800's discovered due to prehistoric wood deep in the ocean bed. Even more history!).
If you imagine the perfect sand dune beach, then it is probably Camber Sands which is voted as one of the top beaches in the country. Glorious in the summer and romantic in the winter for walks.
This 14th Century moated Castle has a lot of history which you can learn all about during a visit here. Make a full day of it and enjoy a trip on the steam train which runs nearby.
There are so many things to do that will fill up at least one day here - visit the countries oldest beach launched fishing fleets and buy some local catch with zero carbon footprint, take the funicular up to the countrypark for breathtaking views, go to the Smugglers Adventure to learn about Hastings history of smuggling and the Aquarium. Loads of great places to eat and drink too.
We have so many beautiful forestry commission woodlands to explore, however Bedgebury which is about a 25 minute drive has a Go Ape course (one for smaller kids too), kids adventure trails and play areas as well as bike hire. They also have big name bands and artists performing in the summer which makes a memorable night!
